READING CELEBRATION: Mama Lou Tales, Guyanese Komfa, Something Buried in the Yard
June 27 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Free

The retentions of African indigenous cultural and spiritual practices are experienced in varying degrees throughout its diaspora. We invite you to our celebration of the 10th anniversary of three titles that centre on these retentions: folk narratives, myth-making, drumming (‘wok’) and storytelling. Our audio book reader, Margaret David will be joined by Coreen Harris-Carberry to read extracts in the Guyanese Creolise that are richly expressed in the books. All are welcome to this FREE reading celebration, which also marks the 60th year of Guyana’s independence, and supports the National Year of Reading in the UK.
Copies of all titles and other Way Wive Wordz books will be on Sale.
Refreshments provided.
Sponsored by BAME Voice.
