It’s our 10th Anniversary Year

Share

“Dont count the days, make the days count.”

The immortal Muhammad Ali inspiring us to rise with purpose every day. Though Way Wive Wordz is high-fiving the achievement of 10 years, this reminds us that the wonderful work we embarked on in November 2014 is only just beginning. We have learnt much in these years and have treasured the experiences of other independent publishers and educators – Bogle L’Ouverture and New Beacon Books to name just two. So we know it’s not a short hop but a far walk achievable only in partnership,  collaboration and with communities.

Our first titles were The Awakening and Other Poems and the novel Elijah. Since then we have published a range of titles and have added several first time writers to our portfolio. We look forward to doing more, however, as we continue to blossom. In 2014, we also launched our website. We are delighted to introduce our new-look website developed as part of this anniversary celebrations. Take a look and subscribe for relevant updates about new books, courses, events and more. We have a dedicated shop where you can get our books from where you are in the world – so head over there now to check out! And look out for our promotions as we approach November, the official 10th anniverary month.

“Those who say it can’t be done are usually interrupted by others doing it.”

So Writes James Baldwin. While it’s our 10th year, this year also marks the 100th birthday of James Baldwin. We were delighted to collaborate with Black History Walks to host the popular The Amazing James Baldwin Course which ran for a few years. We invite you to Black History Walks and Nubian Jak’s Blue Plaque commemorative unveiling for James Baldwin at the CLR James Library in Hackney, where he visited in 1985. Add 17th May to your diaries and go here for more details. Lots more will be happening to mark Baldwin’s centenary, so keep watch!

10th Anniversary titles coming soon

We’ve wanted to create journals and affirmation cards for sometime, which complement our W-rites to Heal Course and our workshops on lifewriting and The Power of Affirmations and Automatic Writing. This year –  they’re on the way!

Finally, we’re publishing a second edition, and updated version of our debut poetry collection, with a new title The Re-Awakening. You’ll soon get a chance to pre-order copies but we wanted you to see our cover reveal as this new title highlights our rebirth and redoubled emphasis on advancing spiritually and creatively through the empowering medium of words.
